Grief makes familiar things feel foreign. In the months after my loss, the bed that was meant for rest became a strange place. This work holds the memory of nights spent crying to sleep, and mornings waking with grief still in my eyes. This painting is a reminder that the pain forms part of our identity and that hard time dont last.
I had lost something, it meant a lot to me, and it was valid, because I cried for days, painting my emotions at this point was not an escape, it was me embracing the pain and finding beauty in it.
