16 x 20 acrylic on canvas
This piece draws inspiration from my girlfriend's childhood home in Sudan, which was destroyed. This place, once a source of joy and foundational memories for her, now exists only in her recollections. I feel her heartbreak each time she shares her story. While the painting does not directly depict her experience, its essence is rooted in her narrative. Her story reflects a broader, troubling reality faced by many around the world. The child in the painting symbolizes all children who have been forced to mature prematurely due to conflict and loss.
