The Invitation is a mixed media work that reflects the waiting season of young African artists. It examines moments of struggle, failure, and disappointment, while also rendering the persistent pursuit of visibility within the art market. Through cycles of trial and error, the artist continues to push beyond creative and conceptual boundaries, anchored in the belief of reaching the right audience at the right time. The work evokes themes of patience, diligence, consistency, and hope, inviting viewers into the often unseen inner world of the African artist’s journey.

This artwork is inspired by my personal journey as an artist. Through it, I seek to connect viewers with the experiences of the average African artist striving for recognition in the art world. My intention is to highlight the challenges and triumphs faced in this pursuit, fostering a deeper understanding of the artistic landscape in Africa.
