A surreal digital portrait of a blindfolded figure holding a burning sun, rendered in deep earthy tones and intricate linework. The piece blends mythic symbolism with modern realism, exploring power, sacrifice, and transcendence. Circular motifs echo cosmic cycles, while the textured background gives it a carved, almost ancient presence
“Sun-Eater” was born from the idea of confronting power instead of worshipping it. The figure does not gaze at the sun—he cannot. He is blindfolded, yet he reaches for it, holding something too intense to fully comprehend.
The work explores the tension between desire and consequence. The sun becomes more than light—it is knowledge, ambition, identity, even destruction. To hold it is to claim power, but also to endure it.
I drew from mythological archetypes and African visual language—ritual markings, circular symbols, and grounded earthy tones—to create something that feels ancient yet immediate. The texture of the background was intentional, almost like weathered stone or skin, to suggest permanence and history.
