In Amity, I present a vibrant, cubist-inspired exploration of human interconnectedness. This 36x36 inch canvas utilizes a bold primary palette—interweaving faces and eyes through fluid, black outlines that suggest a singular, communal spirit. By overlapping geometric planes and shared features, the work visualises the inescapable oneness of humanity, challenging the artificial constructs of division. It serves as a rhythmic, visual manifesto, calling for the replacement of bigotry with the enduring strength of truth and collective love.
My motivation for painting Amity was to confront the fundamental, inescapable oneness of humanity in a world increasingly defined by manufactured division. I wanted to create a visual counter-narrative to the hatred we see daily, reminding us that whether we seek to deny it, fight it, or ignorantly try to destroy it, our connection persists beneath the surface.
This 36x36 inch canvas is my declaration that the divisions we feel are merely a cover—a veil placed there by those who benefit from the fragmentation of the human spirit.
In the composition, I deliberately interwove faces and shared gazes to show that our identities are not isolated, but rather part of a larger, vibrant tapestry. I chose bold, unapologetic colours to represent the vitality of this unity; even when weakened by external conflict, the truth of our oneness is never truly gone. I wanted the fluid black lines to act as the threads of our shared narrative, binding us together in a way that makes it impossible to distinguish where one soul ends and another begins.
Ultimately, Amity is a passionate call to arms—not of weapons, but of the heart. It is an invitation to courageously challenge bigotry and replace it with the transformative power of truth and love. I painted this masterpiece to affirm the ultimate strength and resilience of our shared humanity, offering a vision where we no longer see "the other," but rather ourselves reflected in every face. It is a reminder that in our core, we are one.
