About the Artist
Full name: Toluwani Abiodun Artist name: tioluwanimishands
I believe that as every face is different, so the story it tells. I am a pencil and charcoal portrait artist, working at the intersection of fine art, storytelling, and soul-rooted creative practice.
My journey into visual art grew alongside a broader creative life one shaped early by drama and performance through Dunamis, a collective I was part of at Babcock University, where I studied Biochemistry. That background in science trained my eye for precision and structure, while my years in drama gave me an instinct for character, emotion, and narrative instincts that now shape every portrait I draw.…
My work centers on capturing likeness with depth: not just the accuracy of a face, but the presence behind it. Each portrait is built through careful observation, layered shading, and attention to the small details that make a subject unmistakably themselves the set of the eyes, the texture of light on skin, the quiet expression a photograph often misses.
Beyond portraiture, I work across scriptwriting, video editing, and illustration. I'm active within Creatives in Faith, a community of artists exploring creative work through a spiritual lens. This range feeds my art directly I approach every commission the way I'd approach telling a story: with structure, honesty, and care for the person at its center.
I'm currently building a portrait commission practice, working closely with clients to translate personal photographs and memories into lasting pencil and charcoal pieces.
Artist statement: My work examines likeness as a storytelling medium. Primarily using graphite and charcoal, I focus on portraiture for its need for technical precision and emotional honesty.
Each line serves to capture not only the subject's appearance but also their essence.
