About the Artist
Full name: Emmanuel Prosper Ogheneothuko Artist name: PERSPEX ARTS
Art has always been a part of me. Growing up, I was deeply fascinated by the beauty and mystery of artistic expression — how simple lines, shades, and strokes could tell powerful stories and evoke emotions words sometimes fail to express.…
However, my journey was not without its challenges. Growing up in the rural part of Lagos, I was surrounded by the common belief that art could never be a path to success. Many saw it as a mere hobby, not a calling or a career. But for me, art was never just a pastime — it was a way of life, a language through which I could connect to the world around me.
As I grew older, I discovered a deep love for charcoal art. There was something captivating about how fine charcoal could be used to portray thoughts, emotions, and reality in the most raw and expressive form. The depth, contrast, and intensity of charcoal allowed me to create life-like pieces that captured not just faces, but stories.
Today, my work focuses mainly on hyperrealistic portraits, where I aim to capture the uniqueness of every face and the emotions behind every expression. To me, every face tells a story — of strength, struggle, joy, or hope — and my mission as an artist is to bring those silent stories to life through my art.
Artist statement: My art explores human emotion through hyperrealistic charcoal portraits. Each face I draw tells a unique story of strength, beauty, and vulnerability. Through light, shadow, and detail, I aim to capture the essence of individuality and inspire viewers to reflect, connect, and find shared humanity.
